Smart financing meets sustainable hospitality

Our customer Scandic Hotels AB

Scandic Hotels AB, headquartered in Stockholm, is the largest hotel chain in the Nordics and a recognized leader in sustainable hospitality. With hotels across the Nordics & Europe, Scandic is committed to reducing environmental impact, delivering inclusive guest experiences and continuously modernizing its operations.

To stay ahead in offering first-class conference facilities, streamlined hotel operations, and a consistent guest experience across its Swedish hotel network, Scandic needed a smarter way to manage and finance IT and AV infrastructure -  without compromising on sustainability or cost-efficiency.

"This collaboration is a great example of how business performance and sustainability can go hand in hand. Together with CHG-MERIDIAN, we have made it easier to stay up to date - without overconsuming."
Peter Novara, AV-Gatekeeper Scandic Sweden

Challenges

Prior to the collaboration with CHG-MERIDIAN, Scandic followed a traditional model where all IT and AV equipment was purchased directly. While this provided ownership, it also created several challenges: the goal was to improve the guest experience, reduce costs, and run the business more sustainably — all while creating a more unified technical structure.

High upfront costs High upfront costs and limited budget options between hotels.
Limited overview Limited overview and control of AV and IT equipment on different units and difficulties in coordinating purchasing processes in a decentralized organization.
Outdated hardware Outdated hardware that affected the user experience – especially for conference guests.

Solution

CHG-MERIDIAN delivered a tailored solution spanning the full asset lifecycle: financing models for laptops and visual communication systems (AV) — enabling Scandic to equip all locations with up-to-date technology.

Tesma, our asset management system, provided full visibility into equipment usage, location and lifecycle stage. While initial adoption was challenging due to the decentralized nature of operations, the breakthrough came when Scandic’s headquarters centralized their asset processes — allowing for a more unified implementation across Nordic hotels.

Result

Thanks to the collaboration, Scandic has:

Cost savings Achieved cost savings and increased operational efficiency
Easier management The centralized asset structure enables smoother roll-outs and easier management of equipment in different locations.
Strengthened sustainability work Strengthened its sustainability work by avoiding overconsumption and extending the life cycle of equipment.

A shared vision: sustainability as a core value

Scandic's sustainability work is not a checklist — it's part of their DNA. From being the first hotel chain to introduce Nordic Swan Ecolabelled breakfasts to climate-neutral operations, Scandic is leading the way in the industry.

With CHG-MERIDIAN's circular financing model and transparency in asset management, the partnership supports:

- Scandic's climate roadmap to reduce emissions in line with the Paris Agreement.
- Smarter use of resources in line with their Green Stay concept.
- Better decision-making through centralized control and data-driven management of equipment.

With a strong partnership in place, Scandic Hotels AB and CHG-MERIDIAN are exploring further collaboration opportunities across their hotel network in the Nordics and beyond.

Together, we’re showing that modern hospitality can be tech-forward, cost-efficient and planet-positive - all at the same time.

tesma

To ensure the desired transparency of the AV equipment, Scandic Hotels chose asset management through our tesma platform. The platform integrates commercial and technical data, providing comprehensive information and knowledge throughout its lifecycle.

The platform offers different departments important information about the AV landscape and individual devices. For example, during an investment planning, tesma can provide detailed information about device configurations, locations, and budget development. During the period of use, the application provides control reports for easy budgeting, consumption and capacity planning. At the end of the usage period, Scandic Hotels receives information about the status and period of use of the asset, as well as planned and executed decommissioning.
